Doesn't sound like he was too hard on you. Every time somebody reports loose cattle our local cop comes over and drives down and checks my gates and tries to figure out if I'm the root of the problem. He won't let me forget the time, about ten years ago, when I had three steers come up missing when I didn't lock the gate. After a little romp around the neighborhood they came wondering home and walked up to the steer stuffer and started eating. Nothing gotten out since, but he wasn't going to let me forget it. But I am happy he's keeping an eye on things
