Hey John, We called that digging headings. We did it by hand when I was growing up usually standing in the water that was already there. In 1964 I rode with Dad all the way to Jacksonville Fla. to pickup an attachment to do that. The one we picked up for another farmer was long and cut across 3 6ft. tomato beds pto driven and augured a ditch across. The trip took us all day in his 51 Ford F6 and spent the night in a Motel and ate in a restaurant both new things to Me. Ron
