I have a 65 and I run loaded tires and bull chains on mine in the winter.
Can you plow without them? Yes. If it's a flat driveway and you're not pushing huge amounts of snow you certainly can.
I use chains because my driveway is on a hill. I also can get up to 3 feet overnight, not often but it happens.
If you get ice, you'll want chains. Chains will do a markedly better job than no chains, but the trade off is the lack of damage to your blacktop.
I've plowed our municipality roads with mine and others like it with chains and never hurt the asphalt at all, it's pretty resilient when it's cold.
It might help to know what area you're in and how much snow you're talking about pushing. The other factor is going to be the quality of your paved driveway. If you're plowing on something as thin as 2" of blacktop, and you don't have a solid frost base under it, you might be looking at trouble.
