Ads that say "I know what it is worth.". Usually means they are way over priced and the scrap guy wouldn't take it.
I have had to explain the scrap thing to the know nothings. When they say they have called and know what iron is worth, say $275 a ton. I then say that is for clean cast or clean heavy melt. Your truck, car, tractor, etc, is considered mixed iron and is worth about $150 a ton. That being said, it also does not weigh nearly what you think it does. The GVW tag is not the vehicles' weight.
