Well what's he going to make it from...rain water? Not much tougher application of a chain than on a motorcycle. It would help to know what the chains are used for. Don't know if there's a home brew for chain wax. Someone else even suggested motorcycle chain lube. I guess you can't read either. You still have to buy STP and talking of gimmicks, STP was the originator of snake oil! You could always see if there's an O-ring motorcycle chain that matches the pitch of the chain and put that on. Then you wouldn't need to lube it nearly as often.
