The SIB bulletin refers to which belt to use as to application. If you are towing loads such as a lawn roller or yard cart with a heavier load and belt slips, then you would want to use the shorter belt. If just using to mow yard then the longer belt should work fine. The short is also much tougher to put on, almost have to pry it on but it will go on, It should not slip providing pulleys and sheaves are not worn.
