"The plow doesn"t go as deep into the ground as it should" What is the condition of the plow shares. If set up correctly the plow should 'dig' itself in and the hydraulics on the tractor should prevent it from going too deep.

There is a cork friction disk just inboard of the control lever. Sound like it is worn out and needs to be replaced.
