Long 2610 hydraulic problem

I recently bought a Long 2610 with a loader at an auction. I tried out the 3 pt lift and loader before I bought it and they both seemed to work fine(without anything attached to the 3-point arms). I got the tractor home and hooked up a chisel to the 3 point arms. The tractor would pick up the chisel at first but then after a few minutes in the up position, if i tried to lower the chisel and then lift it again, it would not pick it back up no matter how high I revved the engine. After some investigation, I noticed that the hydraulic pump would get hot enough that you could not keep your hand on it if the chisel was left in the up position, but if I move the 3-point control lever forward about 1/4 th of the quadrant the pump will cool down (and the chisel at this lever position has not yet started to go down). After the oil cools off everything will work fine if I raise the chisel by pulling the lever all the way back, and after the chisel has been raised, back off the lever to the position noted above and the chisel will remain in the raised position. Also noticed that when I move the lever past that 3/4 raised point of the quadrant with the chisel attached(I have not tried it without the chisel attached) I can hear the engine work a little harder. So what is happening is when I raise an implement and leave the lever in the fully raised position, the pump and oil will get hot and the lift will not work. The loader has no such problems, so I am thinking that there may be an adjustment or something in the hydraulic lift? Anyone have any suggestions?
