That"s all we burn here. It needs to dry for 2 years and it makes less heat than oak or maple but it also makes less ash. However we don"t have any oak or maple here, it is too far north. We have cottonwood, (we call it poplar) black spruce, tamarac and birch. Black spruce and tamarac are hard to get to because they are always in black muck swamps, and I don"t have many birch trees, so I burn poplar.
