Approx. Two years ago I described how I hoped to stop the rust that had eaten away the bottoms of the doors of my previous vehicle. I had waited until the '06 Super Duty was about four years old and the rust was creeping under the paint where the outer skin laps over the inner at the bottom of the door. I took a screwdriver and dragged it along the edge of the lap, pulling off the loose paint. I then sprayed WD-40 and gave it a day to penetrate. Then I sprayed aerosol chain lube which goes on thin and penetrates, and then sets up. Yesterday after changing the oil I inspected it, and could find no advancing of rust, and renewed the protection.
