MS will have 8.1 out soon. You will be able to boot to the desktop and it will have a 'Start Button'. It will be a FREE update. The official beta will be out June 26 and the final version sometime in the fall.

8 has better memory management, boots faster, and is more secure! My wife is definitely not a techie type and she uses 8. I offered to put 7 back on but she likes 8.?

A number of years ago I attended a Comdex show in Las Vegas and met Leo and Kate Botello. They hosted a show called "The Screen Savers" on ZDTV. Later Paul Allen bought ZDTV and changed the name to Tech TV.
Mac hardware uses the same processors and chipset as any other 2 or 3 year old computer. OSX has as many holes as swiss cheese. Do you really want to buy from a company that has $160 Billion in cash, with $100 Billion of that tax free outside the US?
Linux is fun to play with and works well. But, sometimes it's difficult to play with. Like drivers for a high end gaming video card.
