I like the variety and the smaller size farm like yours, my long time friend and neighbor who did dairy most of his life, though had quite a bit of acreage in hay and corn, always did a variety, the fields around here are of various sizes, shapes and bordered by woods or hedgerows and it was always cool to see the smaller isolated pieces in this crop or that, alfalfa, oats, wheat etc. He used to mix it up a bit years back. Before the cell phone, it could be hard to find someone working on a farm or isolated fields with all the tractor paths and means to get in and out of some places. With what you are doing with the era of equipment you use, reminds me of how it is north of here, by about 10 miles or so, sure theres the big operator, 2000 head dairy, all kinds of nice ground, but then theres still the smaller farms with vintage equipment working, I took a ride for some rotary cutter blades to the temco dealer and tractor shop, and I must have hit it at the right time, a tractor in every field from tillage to planting, which most are getting close to being done by now.
