I am using the same sort of boot at present, having snapped the tendon that controls up and down movement in the foot. Had it surgically repaired, then into a solid cast for a couple of months, now the 'moon boot'
My wife made a canvas cover for the boot. It keeps the boot reasonably clean. However, farm work is difficult in the boot. I am slow at climbing into tractors, walking around etc, and any heavy work, carrying etc is out.
I have to try to look after the foot as the surgeon said the repair is a one shot deal.
