According to Dr Brownstein (an Iodine specialist in Michigan) over 90% of North Americans are deficient in Iodine despite the meagre amounts added to salt. Rub a few drops onto the skin of your tummy area to create a stain. If the stain is still clearly visible after 24 hours then you have sufficient iodine in your body. Most of us fail this test! A French doctor (Lugol) in 1829 formulated a particular ratio of Iodine with Iodide and it is called Lugol's solution and is still available online. According to Dr Brownstein this Lugol's solution is an excellent protection against many cancers, especially of the reproductive systems. This is borne out by the fact that the Japanese women have the lowest rates of breast cancer in the world and also the highest intake of iodine in their diet.
I had a thyroid test a year ago and my Iodine was very low, so I took 9 drops of Lugol's strong Iodine solution per week for 10 weeks and a follow-up Thyroid test showed my results improved by 44%. I took the drops in a morning drink, usually tea or coffee, but some people have upset stomach by taking it orally, so the other way is to just rub in onto your skin and your body absorbs it very well.
