Called NAPA first thing this morning to get the correct ignition switch. They had one in stock so I asked them to pull it and take a look to see if it has the extra pig tail that I needed before I ran into town to pick it up. It was not there so in describing my issue he suggested looking at the '97 version. Sure enough it had the extra tail I was searching for. Went out and read him the VIN and this truck is indeed a '97. Obviously need to be more careful in my assumptions.
Wrapped up the replacement this evening and took it for a 5 mile test drive without any issues. Sprint6 has obviously been into one of these before, he was spot on with everything he said from the diagnosis to the details of connector locations. Not sure how long a pro would take, but I probably have 6-7 hours into it including parts runs, posts here, other research, etc.
Anyway, wanted to thank all of you for the help and applaud Sprint6 and my local persistent/knowledgable parts guy.
