Dave, your Essex does look like a well preserved original. Mice have been in the car in the past but in recent years I have a lot of poison blocks set out to keep them under control in every building on the farm. It helps as I rarely see a mouse.
The paint on mine is hardly original. I sprayed it myself in 1971 and that paint is wearing thin especially on the roof where the shed leaked. I'm thinking of sanding it smooth and spraying some primer on it for now.
Cleaned it up a little yesterday with some old rags and diesel fuel.
