In lower Michigan, the end of may is usually 1st cutting time, then every 28 +/- days after that. Don't get too picky. If you get the weather and it's a little early , do it. Around here, we need 3-5 days from cutting to baling. Usually 4-5 days for first cutting because its so thick and its not ideal drying weather. In augest around 3rd cut , it sometimes drys as fast as 3 days when it's 90 and dry. Like others have said, befriend someone in the area that knows what they're doing and you'll figure it out.
