Alfalfa in Ky. sounds good, but the first cutting comes when the weather is still cold and spring rains are coming in every three days. Second is better weather and quality is better if you haven't screwed the field up too bad getting the first cutting up. Third cutting the weather is hotter than he!! the leaves will fall off before the stems are dry enough to bale. Forth cutting is good if you don't graze it. If you can roll and/or bag the first cutting for cattle the rest will be easy-er.
