Normally, I don't recommend getting an extended warranty on anything, but you might consider it on this. I bought a Canon camera a couple of years ago and the thing had an "Error code 5" come up. (Google it. It's common on the Canon) It had taken fewer than 100 pictures and was exactly one month past the warranty. They wouldn't budge on them footing the bill and it cost me $199, plus shipping both ways, to get it fixed. They twisted my arm several times to "let us buy your camera and then you can upgrade cheaper" type of sales pressure. I guess that way they can spend $5 for the fix and resell it for $300. My next camera probably will not be a Canon.
