I do know in the 60's they were driven down the road. Don't know if you remember the pics I posted of the WW2 M4 18 Ton High Speed Tractor I restored, but it was full tracked based on a smaller tank and had the same tracks as a Sherman Tank. An old timer at the Armory in Storm Lake Iowa told me they had a bunch of these High Speed Tractors and when they were decommissioned, they were driven to Des Moines, a distance of maybe 140 miles. They had 817 cu. in. Waukesha Gas engines and according to the data plates they had a range of 100 miles on a 125 gallon gas tank! I'd take in the area of 150-160 gallons of gas to get each one to Des Moines! Jim
