You have all those green leaves on the trees. We only have slightly swollen buds here in NWIA. Were you leading the parade or were you a couple of entries back? I used to run in parades pulling a fancy bundle wagon with a SC Case advertising our local threshing show. Didn't have anyone riding in the bundle wagon for this one centennial parade so the local VFW rode in it. They put me in the front of the parade, number one, and I had no idea of where to go. To make matters worse I'd never been in this town before. The VFW had their flags on the float and everyone was jumping up and saluting and taking off their hats as I went by, but they didn't know I was scared stiff leading a parade and not knowing where to go. Made it through but it's one parade I'll never forget. One thing I do remember is EVERYONE stood up for the flag. I was impressed and my good feeling about small town rural America was reinforced.
