True country music artist.
Not like today's country - it's basically rock 'n roll - and fairly hard rock - just with a country "twang" in the vocals.
I have a bar band, we play classic and newer rock - and we play "Kick it in the Sticks", which is supposed to be a country song - that's not country. Driving beat, distorted dropped-tuned guitars - all the hallmarks of today's rock. But with twang, so they call it country.
I like all kinds of music, but when I want to hear country, I want George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, either Hank, Alabama (who were pretty progressive for their time), Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, etc.
Oh and Roger Miller. Any time is a good time for Roger Miller. That guy was a genius.
P.S. we were also learning She's Country by jason Aldean. Well, "she" might be country, but this song's not.
