While on the subject, some dealers are pretty tight also. While working at a car dealership, the techs had to do a "safety check" on any vehicle that came in, no matter if it was 6 months old or 60 years old. (It was a scam to increase dealer revenue, but whatever) This dealer also cleared any repairs with the customer before repairs could be completed. After doing a $2500 repair on a vehicle, I did a safety check on a vehicle and replaced a brake light bulb, adding $.59 to the bill. Because the shop foreman made a mistake and told me that it was okay, I replaced the bulb without notifying the customer. The shop wouldn't stand behind this repair and the $.59 came out of my pocket because there was no way I was going to put a burned out bulb back in a socket and send the customer on his way. There were more reasons why, but I quit there within a month.
