Momma killdeer's butt is mother nature's xerox machine! She whirrs and buzzes a little, and produces an egg, that looks just like the surface she lays it on! She would sacrifice her own life, to protect her own, unlike some humans. I marvel at them, they aren't out that long in spring, then come back to do the same thing a couple months later. If at all possible, I leave them alone, they don't hurt anything.
