Those older mechanical fuel pumps were problematic.Seems the really didn't have the stuff to lift gas that far up.I've had to replace all the machanical pumps on all my x5 combines.Just used a $40.00 Autozone electric.Mounted it under tha gas tank.Works perfectly!You can push the gas through the old machanical,or just bypass the mechanical entirely-as I did.I went so far as to completely remove the old mechanical and put a steel plate/cover over the hole.
