I am in your corner, I build engines for pullers and have often thought about the advantages of electronics.
Since the advent of electronics I have seen engine life go from 50, 75,000 Mi. to over 320,000 on an 87 Olds Delta 3.8 that I had a few years back and I attribute a lot of that to the engines not being washed down by sticky automatic chokes washing down the walls during warmup.
What you are doing is interesting stuff and I do not see why anyone would object as long as you are not asking them to finance it for you.
