Always found something peaceful about the morning dove, I've actually rehabilitated a few, one would always hop onto my hand from the cage, this one could not even stand when I got him, nursed him along for a few months and it was cool to see him get better, though he never could fly for some reason, he sure was content around the garage would stay roosted up high and watch over what you were doing. Some are not very fearful around here, usually fledglings, you can get right up close to them.
They're popular for some to hunt, but they're can't be much on them as far as meat, pretty darned fast sometimes, I have seen several escape a hawk at the bird feeder here
