Thanks for posting, Graydon- that brought back memories of when I showed in FFA, what, 50 YEARS AGO? How can that be? BSing with the others on the hay bales, then pitching in with a vengeance when we heard that Jim Metrakes (he was Greek- pronounced it "Chim"), the herdsmanship judge and mean as a snake, was about to come through. Running out of money (and food) on the last day of the fair, so bought 20 dead ripe cantelopes at Albertsons and wheeled them back in a shopping cart- it was about 95 degrees, and I traded those juicy melons for sandwiches, cookies, you name it. I was poised to win fitting and showing in my senior year, but my heifer was in heat, and I ended up getting disqualified for inflaming the passions of the others in the class, so to speak. Great memories.
