Possibly the wrong oil in the rear axle. This tractor has a wet brake axle and the correct super universal oil should be used up to the fill level. I could possibly be wrong here if your tractor is a red belly 4000, it may not have the wet axle. I am not familiar with the earlier 4000s, but if it is blue and has no brake drums at the end of the axle it is a wet brake tractor. Sam
