I have an american bosch mag on a hercules IXA motor in a 4 wheel silver king. I finally got it fired up today after setting a couple of years since I got it. Had to do the regular stuff (carb clean, tank clean, bowl clean/gasket replace) and clean the plugs.
After it had fired up and ran for a couple of minutes I heard a noise, sort of like rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I isolated the noise to the mag (could feel little vibration in the mag housing when it was making the noise). It will do it for 30 seconds and then not for a minute or two and then do it again. I looked for a place where I could add a little lube to the mag, but didn't see one. Mag looks nice and clean, no corrsion, so I am guess it has been rebuilt at some point in its life. Any ideas on what might be making the noise and how to fix it?
Other than the noise, that thing purred. It was like it hadn't been sitting for 10 years. So great to finally have it running.
