I had a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88, one of the very best cars of its era except for the one I owned. It was at the dealer's service department more than it was home the first year.
Dealer was a friend of mine - after the service department had it for three days getting its THIRD steering column the first year, he gave us the service manager's demo to drive until it was fixed.
The regional GM service manager asked me if we had the car serviced regularly when I told him I thought we had a lemon - I asked him how often the steering column was supposed to get serviced.
Brakes went at 20k, starter went at 40k, shocks at 45k, we traded it off at 46k.
