Check with the local machine shops and see if they can repair the head, possibly using the "plug-on-plug method. It has become quite common for repairing cracks in cast iron.
We had a sand hole in a block repaired that way in 1950 and it is still holding. The guy who did the repair was a POW in Germany in WWII and they gave him a job sweeping floors in a factory that was making the plugs that were used to repair cracks in cast iron. He started his own machine shop after the war and imported plugs from that factory and used their method of repair.
