Bummer - none of that worked - the spring compressed easy enough - but I have never seen a light come apart like that before - never seen one work like that before....
The red bulb and silver ring were part of metal mechanism that reached back into the rear housing of the light with the J connector...similar to backup bulb lights we have now. A solid inch of metal to metal contact - no cab and that sucker was rusted in there...
It only came apart after I had broken the light and crushed the cabside part sufficiently to pull it back out the hole and then it came loose.
probably hasn't been apart since it was first put together.
Anyhow - thanks anyway...new one is being ordered.
