Same here. At HF, you can buy an entire HVLP gun for less then paint suppliers charge for an extra cup. And if you go over the gun and clean up any rough edges, etc., they do just as good a job as some of the ultra high dollar guns.
Advantage of HVLP is they use dramatically less product. A 20 oz cup on an HVLP will cover approximately the same area as a 32 oz cup on a siphon gun.
The three most important things to remember on any paint gun are cleanliness, cleanliness, and cleanliness. Keep the gun clean and always strain the paint putting it into the gun.
