Really don't matter. If Fiat is trying to distance the trucks from the Dodge name it's most likely for one of 2 reasons. 1. They intend to drop the Dodge line to save money or 2. They intend to spin off RAM to pay for their other operations that are not doing so well.
1 I can't figure out. If it's to save money then why not save even more and call the RAM a Chrysler instaed of running the RAM as a seperate line?
2. Fiat would not be the first company to do that. Sometimes spinning off a profitable division allows the non-profitable side time to restructure. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Other times companies may spin off a non-profitable division that still has assets that are valuable to other companies like AC did when they sold the construction division to Fiat. AC construction wasn't selling well and sold even less when it became Fiat-Allis here in the US. But it was too little too late to save the AC Ag division.
