: Just recently purchased a Ford 2000 Tractor. The previous owner did not know exactly what year the tractor was, other than he believed it to be somewhere around 1972. How can I find out? By Serial Number? : Also I was wondering if anyone knew the horsepower rating for engine/PTO? The tractor has a 3 cylinder gas engine. : Thanks. You can tell what year the tractor was made by finding the unit number on the serial number tag. If the tractor was made in 1972 the unit number will start with a 2, such as 2b24a. the first number, 2, is the year of manufacture. The "b" is the month of manufacture, in this case February. The third "24" is the day of manufacture, and the "a" is the shift the tracture was manufactured.
