I'm not too far from you. I've had several instances where "hunters" trespassed on my ground. Once I got tired enough of it happening and did something about it, I found out it was mostly "city folks" that just assumed that a patch of undisturbed woods meant no one cared if they hunted it or not. Had one guy say almost those exact words to me. After I demonstrated just how much I cared, staked out the popular entry and exit from my place, called the law when someone entered, and had his truck impounded, his gun impounded, and his sorry butt hauled off to the county justice center for (1) trespassing (2) hunting out of season (3) destruction of private property (4) firing a rifle in the direction of several houses only a few hundred yards away, he might have changed his opinion somewhat.
Funny how word travels fast once you have the first illegal hunter arrested. What was once a common problem ended once word got out about what happened.
No, I shouldn't have had to take such an active role in getting the law enforced, but it is what it is.
