Six years in the Navy an I went all over the Med. I've seen the Pyramids, the State Museum in Cairo (King Tut, etc, etc), along with various other sites. In Israel the Tomb of the Rock, and thr Wailing Wall. Then there are BIG places like The Suez Canal, and the Straights of Gibralter (along with "The Rock"). Top that all off with many of the sites in England like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and others.
Stateside I had the chance to go to the top of the World Trade Center right after we got back from the Persian Gulf. Beyond that all I can say is I've seen more famous places in other contries than I could even begin to think about seeing here in the US.
Stateside or not, one thing I did like about the Navy was the chance to travel and see so many of these historic/famous places. I just wish we had of had more time to spend when we were there, to actually look around and appreciate the history of the different places a little better. One of these days I hope to be able to travel back and spend more time looking around.
