When I was growing up you could go down to some filling stations and get your engine "steam cleaned". It consisted of nothing more than a water tank heated hot enough to produce steam (made one heck of a fog cloud in the winter) under high pressure, and that was it. The attendant would wet everything down good and then come back and finish it off.
A neighbor has a pressure washer that he rigged a hot water tank/heater in the water input and does the same thing.
