I agree 100%. Plus, having the government take care of our daily needs breeds fraud. There are billions of dollars being wasted on fraud if the small percentage of people that get prosecuted is any indicator. Just last week, a pharmacist in Detroit was sentenced to 17 years for defrauding the government of $57 million. That's one case, one guy.
The best system is where an individual writes a check and hands it to the provider of a service. There is NO middleman that can siphon any of that off. It doesn't matter what the service is. If the government started paying for roofs, there would be billions in fraudulent "roof repairs".
