Berkshire Hathaway is not Warren Buffett, nor is he the only shareholder. Berkshire Hathaway has a fiduciary responsibility to its investors to attempt to get the most favorable tax treatment legally available to it. Berkshire Hathaway's negotiations with the IRS over its CORPORATE tax liability are far removed from Buffett's own PERSONAL income tax. Attempting to make a connection between Berkshire Hathaway's corporate tax problems and Warren Buffett's opinions on individual income tax rates is a far stretch. It is like trying to indict a Microsoft shareholder for tax evasion just because Microsoft engages in various strategies to legally avoid paying income tax.
