No, most Gooseneck hitchs if installed right are stronger. The hitch on the trailer may be stronger with the fifthwheel. Both can be bought at higher or lower ratings.
About the only advantage of the fifth wheel hitch with rails is the ability to slide the hitch forward or back on the rails on the truck.
The trailer hitch is higher to have more clearance under the hitch with the fifth wheel as well.
