I pencil in the date when I install them, and take it back to the store when they fail (Menards). The longest lasting one was 4 years: the shortest one, a Month. That one ticked me off and when I returned it they would've exchanged it but I didn't have the receipt. I've noticed they last longer when the base is down; ceiling lights have a shorter life.
