Right now .223 ammo is going to be hard to find and expensive if you do find it. We are going through a panic buying phase like we had about 4 years ago.
It will take a couple of years or maybe even longer, depending on what new gun laws come at us before it starts to mellow out again.
You might consider a 22-250 as suggested above which has a longer range but isn't in quite the demand as .223.
If there is any chance you would use it on larger critters like deer, you can't go wrong with a .243 either. With the lighter bullets, they can really ruin a coyote. Just get a .243 with a 1 in 10 inch twist barrel if you plan on using mostly light bullets.
