I posted this a few days ago somewhere here but here it is again.
When I was young we had a hedge that was maybe 12 foot tall. We needed to trim it. That was accomplished by backing the riding mower into the loader bucket with the deck and front end hanging out (rear engine rider). Then a chain was run from the front axle on each side over the seat (crossing) and then to the bucket. With that setup the whole front of that mower hovered in the air with the blade running. All we needed to do was go back and forth over the hedge and look out for flying evergreen pieces. I thought it was so cool at the time but it would scare the willies out of me as an adult.
I know that I don't have any pictures, but someone in the family does. I remember seeing them.
Moral of the story - don't use a 30 inch deck. It takes a long time.
