Saranac Lake is in the Adirondacks, it is both a lake and a town if I am not mistaken. It is in an area that I have not yet visited. The Adirondacks are a beautiful area, and there are options for all budget levels. There are several million acres of state land that can be acccessed free of charge, including lakes, rivers, mountains, swamps, lots of woods and trails all over the place. I ride my bicycle up there and camp and hike on state land, which is free unless you stay in a campground. A weeklong trip costs me about $50 for food, since prices are a bit higher up there. It is about the cheapest vacation I could have. There are all sorts of options with more amenities, I do not know what they cost as I have not used them but there should be quite a range. I think that the state campgrounds are mostly $10 a night per site, someone told me, but I can't remember for sure. Zach
