RBnSC, Forgot to say... hope you post a pic of the bank vault door. The old ones can be really ornate and beautiful.
Our church was given the building we not own (well, actually sold to us for $1 dollar). Anyway, we remodeled it (was an old bank). It has a beautiful doorway around the old bank vault. My husband and I are the ones who removed the door from the old vault - so it could be used for a prayer room. Quite a job. We had to disassemble layers of it to lighten it up. Finally husband put a big tractor tire on the floor and used a big pry-bar to lift it out of it's hinges and and let her slam down onto the tire. Took 3 guys to carry it out of the building - even though we had taken some layers out of it. It was HEAVY! I was on the remodeling committee - some wanted to obliterate the old framework so that wall would look more modern... I said, "No way, we have to keep it - it is a cool accent to our modern decore". I think it looks great, glad we kept it.
