after reading below post ,, my folx always taught to keep0 a canister of morton salt nearthe furnace , in the event of chimney fire pour salt on the fire,. only had couple chimney fire here ,, poured on the salt and things began to be somewhat controlled ,not sure why and IF THIS REALLY WORX,if there is a science behind this? can anyone offer an explanation ?,, stay warm folx,, btw ,, i was born in a old 1840s farm house ,, that Pop claimed "only way to keep it warm was to set the place on fire "
