Recommending Plus P, in general is going to get someone hurt. There are alot of small frame 38s out there that aren't rated for plus P, and could blow up in someones face!!! I would recommend a hot Jacketed hollow point.
I have also seen deer, that aren't any bigger then a man, hit in the lungs, with a 7MM Mag, go for close to a mile before they tipped over. Its all about the adrenaline pumping threw them. as to how far they can go.
