Finished high school in'57, got a 3rd shift job in a textile mill, drove Dad's old 48 Mayflower for a while. One day a boy I had gone to school with drove up in a neat little '48 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe. "Heard you might be lookin' for a ride", "Yep, how much?" "$250.00." "You got it!" Drove it for about seven months and traded it for a '54 Ford Customline 6cyl. Kept that car for about six years. In the meantime I bought a '57 Renault Dauphine from a guy I worked with. Now that was an experience all to itself! I spent more time working on the darned thing than I did driving it! Finally got tired of messing with it and traded it for My first new car, a '62 Ford Falcon.
